By doing business with Couvreurs de l’Est, you can now benefit from RénoVert’s tax credit of 20% for all roofing insulation projects and eco-friendly home renovations. This refundable credit is designed to encourage homeowners with their projects that have a positive environment and energy impact.
Claiming the Tax Credit
In order to claim the credit, you must have a recognized eco-friendly renovation work done to your principal residence, provided that its construction was completed before January 1st 2016.
Here are a few examples of principal residences :
Single-family detached house, semi-detached house or row house;
Permanently installed prefabricated house or mobile home;
Apartment in a condominium building;
Unit in a multiple-unit residential building;
Winterized cottage that you normally occupy.
This grant program recognizes the work done by a qualified contractor such as Couvreurs de l’Est. The agreement of eco-friendly home renovation projects must be signed after March 17 2016 and before April 1st 2017.
You can make a credit claim for the 2016 and 2017 taxation years when filing your income tax return.
The maximum amount of the tax credit is $10 000. This corresponds to 20% of the amount by which your eligible expenses paid in respect of the eligible dwelling exceeds $2 500. This amount must be paid after March 17 2016, and before January 1st 2017.
If you are co-owner of an eligible dwelling, you can split the tax credit amount with the other co-owners. However, the total amount claimed for the dwelling cannot exceed the maximum amount for an eligible dwelling; $10 000.

RénoVert Tax Credit Application
To claim RénoVert tax credit, you must:
Enclose the form TP-1029.RV-V, RénoVert Tax Credit, with your income tax return for the year;
Have Couvreurs de l’Est complete and sign a Certificate of Compliance With Energy and Environmental Standards (form TP-1029.RV.A-V).
Eligible expenses for the 2016 tax year must have been paid after March 17, 2016 and before January 1, 2017;
Eligible expenses for the 2017 tax year must have been paid after December 31, 2016 and before October 1, 2017.
